For those who wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccination

Publicly funded (= free) initial and booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine will end on March 31st 2024. If you wish to receive a free vaccination, please do so before the end of this period.
From April 1, 2024, local governments will administer routine vaccinations in fall and winter for those aged 65 or older, and those 60 - 64 years of age who meet certain conditions. If you are not eligible for routine vaccinations but would like to be vaccinated, you can receive voluntary vaccinations at your own expense, regardless of the time of year.

Regarding measures to prevent the spread of infection during winter

The Hokkaido Government has announced measures to prevent the spread of infection throughout the winter season, which can be found in “Daily Measures ~ Prevent the spread of Covid-19 and Influenza”.

Regarding measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during autumn

As we move into the autumn tourist season, there’s an increased chance that you will run into crowds. Hokkaido has announced measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 throughout the autumn season, which can be found in “Stay healthy during autumn by taking daily preventive measures”.
From May 8, 2023, COVID-19 will be downgraded to Category V Infectious Disease

Measures against COVID-19 After May 8
Until May 7, 2023, COVID-19 was classified as “Pandemic Infectious Disease (Novel Influenza, Re-emerging Influenza, etc.), but from May 8, 2023, the classification will change to Category V Infectious Disease*. As a result, the rules and regulations (laws) that can be implemented will also change.
The Hokkaido Government has published a notice with information on basic infection control measures and consultation desks if you are worried about infection that will be in effect after the change to Category V on May 8. See the attached document for more information.

Government guidance regarding mask usage in Japan is changing from March 13, 2023. The Headquarters for COVID-19 and Other Emerging Infectious Disease Control at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has announced a “Revision of mask usage policy.”

El Consejo de Bienestar Social de Hokkaido ha elaborado una guía a cerca de los documentos que se les estará enviando y su contenido. Esperamos que le sirva de ayuda.

Notifications will be mailed to those who have received the Monetary Assistance for Everyday Life/Special Loan funds, and who are scheduled to start repayments from January 26, 2023.
